STJARNAN VICTORY OVER IBV TOP TEAM

hello party people.

just got home from our big game tonight. we played IBV the team that was in first in our league..... and they hadn't been scored on this season. well we played at our home stadium, had awesome fans at the game tonight, drums and everything, it was a great atmosphere. :) and it was even better that we got the WIN. we were down 0-1 at halftime, but then scored two goals in the second half to win the game. I got both the goals, which is always exciting when you play forward and to help the team. oh and when there team hadn't been scored on till they came to play STJARNAN!!!!!!! pretty pumped about the victory. after the game, my coach came in the locker room and said..... sorry for the language about to be used...... THATS FUCKING GREAT!!! FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCKING feels good!!! hahaa..... icelandic man yelling this. it was awesome :) so our next game is next week Tuesday, hopefully we can carry on the energy and play well and keep this going.

Soccer Updates :)

Alright time to get to the soccer results for the last three games!!!  Also, besides our great wins, I got my first player of the week recognition which was pretty cool. I got in in the second week of regular season games :)

Our first game that he saw was at home against KR we played an okay game, winning 2-1 we had a lot of opportunities that we didn't put in the back of the goal and we didn't move the ball and switch the field as much as we can and would have liked too, but we got the result and the 3 points we wanted.

After the game, in our club house they have food and snacks for us and family. My host family, who are the people I talk to if I need anything or have any questions etc. all that that good stuff, anyways they asked if we would want to go to see some hot springs that were close and there is beautiful view as well. This is after our game, so about 11 at night, BUT remember it's bright out so it was great. We all jumped into there cars and headed about 30 min on these dirt/gravel roads to the hot springs and amazing view. It was pretty neat, and so nice of them to take us. :) They are an awesome family and very supportive. Here are some pictures. When we got to the hot springs it smelled of rotten eggs because of whats in the water, and the water was so hot it was literally boiling and bubbling. Signs everywhere that said danger! do not touch!

Next game was away against Thor, they are the team that is one of two that is further away. They are a 4 hour drive, so we jump on a plane instead for 45min to get there. When we fly there we get to see the glaciers and the great view from above which was nice. Once we arrived we had a meeting at a hotel and some food, then we headed over to the field. This team is scrappy and has some good talent on there team. It was a physical game and the refs and fans definitely made it clear we were at there home stadium. I got taken out in the box and didn't get a pk called or a call at all for that matter, after the game the ref even said yea think i missed that one to Laki (my head coach) It was okay, thankfully because we won 2-1 on there home pitch and left with 3 points!!

The third game, our latest game was the first round of the FA CUP. We got to host it and we played Throtter, we played so well, moved the ball around and switched the field. Controlled the game, and put away 5 goals which was nice to get a solid win and advance to the next round, and to have that confidence going into our big game that is tonight!!!! I got one of the 5 goals in the game, so did one of my roomies, and my other roomie the goalie got a shutout. Happy household after that game! Now tonight we play IBV a team that hasn't lost but is coming off of there first tie 0-0. They have not been scored on either. They are in first place so far, and we are right on there tail in second, so tonight will be a great time on the pitch. They are coming from a little island the other team that is further away..... so it should help brining them to our pitch. Need to protect our home field and get a win!!!!!!

So now you are all up to date on the games. I will update sooner after games now, it was just a busy time with my visitors :)

Love from iceland.

Visitors!! Sea festival & National Handball game

Hello all, okay I have so much to tell you guys about. So I will start out by telling you about the arrival of my visitors, and then I will tell you about all the adventures and things we've done the last week!!

So Sunday morning I went downtown with the Schroeders there was a sea festival going on, so it was good timing for Alex and Amy to check out the big boats and stuff downtown by the water. After that I left because I had to go to training, but when I was done with that my roommates picked up Alex and Amy from downtown and we headed to watch the Icelandic Handball Women's National Team take on Ukraine!!! It was so neat, what a crazy sport! These girls are big, and strong, and throw each other around and grab on to each other. So aggressive and physical, pretty entertaining to watch. It was the first time i've ever seen handball really so I had no idea what to expect but with all the scoring and action going on it was so much fun to watch!!! Here are some pics from the sea festival and the games below :)

Stjarnan vs Valur

Last week on May 31st we played in our league game against Valur. This is the team we beat in the preseason tournament championship. We knew it was going to be a tough game, we had played them twice prior to this game and won both times. We had to go to there place to play and so far we have been 2-0 for the season......... We lost the game 2-1! It was a rough game, I think for the girls some of them got to worried about the name of the opponent because they have won the league the last 5 years, so they couldn't shake the nerves and that made us play uneasy. Both us and Valur had about the same chances to score.  They scored their first goal off of a corner kick, to start the goal scoring for the night and that was frustrating goal to give them because we did not defend well on the corner. At halftime the score was 0-1 they were up. We have been down 0-1 before at halftime, but when we came out we still couldn't seem to settle down and play our game. I didn't have that many chances to shoot on goal, I had one that was a nice shot on goal and there goalie had to jump up and tip it over the crossbar, to give us a corner kick, but nothing else that was that dangerous. Definitely a frustrating game as a forward, and as a team when you can't get the connection going. About half way into the second half they served a ball in and Valur got a head on it to make the score 2-0. The rest of the half was scrappy and getting dirty. In the last 10 minutes we got on the board to make it 2-1, but the whistle blew and that was the game. Our first regular season loss, losing a match is never a good feeling. Our team was pretty disappointed in our performance and the result of the game. But I think that as a player it made me stronger, and for our team it was a wake up call and a good reminder that every game is going to be tough and we need to play well and be consistent. We have been training hard and learning from the mistakes we made it the game to get ready for our next game which is on Wednesday night at home stadium........ and I will have AMERICAN FANS IN THE STANDS :) :) :)

Love from Iceland.
